At the official launch of FRESH ART GALLERY at the WUK in Vienna on 12th of february, FloSchuetz destroyed "Sustainable?", a painting of him and ceded the copyright to the world. This digital file of this painting is now free and everybody can do with this painting what he wants. With this file everybody can reproduce this file and use it, even sell it. Why did FloSchütz destroy the original painting?
If there would be an original painting the distributed digital file would be just a copy. FloSchütz compared it with posters of famous artworks and said, that if you have a poster for instance of "Mona Lisa" you would still just have a copy in your hands. The original must "die" to assure that each file is from now on an original. He said that this painting is not intended to hang just on ONE wall but on MANY. This is true sustainability of arts.
